In keeping with trying to improve Necom and adding some new features to the Game there are a couple of additional ideas being floated around.
In short they are the implementation of player cup ties and a European/Cup squad roster.
CUP TIES
The basic concept is that a player will be cup tied from playing for his new club in any competition which he has already played that season, ensuring that he only represents one club in each competition per season - save league matches.
Quite how this will be annotated (so that prospective managers know before purchasing a player) is of yet unclear - perhaps a small CL to denote Champions League, in the Cup Games column similar to the req. text. Or maybe a new column next to the Cup Games column with
SC - Super Cup
CL - Champions League
EL - Europa League
BFA - British FA Cup
BLC - British League Cup
EFA - European FA Cup
ELC - European League Cup
if a player has already played in that competition.
EUROPEAN/CUP SQUAD ROSTER
Similar to a squad cap that is implemented in real-life the idea of a European Roster has been suggested.
In your PDF you would receive a squad sheet that is applicable for each particular match you will play in your next turn. So, if you have a European match as well as your league game players that are available for each will be listed in two separate squads - taking account of domestic suspensions, cup ties, etc.
The European squads would be set at two points in the season; at the start of the group stages and when the semi-finals take place - so upon the completion of Weeks 2 and 15.
Any players not in your squad before those deadlines will be ineligible for participation in the next stage of the competition, and will be missing from consequent European squad sheets. Players cup tied after being purchased from other clubs will still be unable to play in the knock-out stages.
These ideas would of course lead to a number of additional changes to the way a turn is processed, with separate return sheets (the line-ups part, etc.) for league, cup and European matches.
Also, it'll oblige managers to keep a far closer eye on their squads and players, and on those who are not cup tied - and more so with respect to those players they are buying.
Of course there is a lot more to be done with this idea, in terms of how it'd be put in place - more so with regards how it affects Neil and his programming demons.
This is the forum to have your say about it, so please do. And if you vote please comment.
