A STATEMENT FROM THE INTER MILAN BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MANAGER.
THE BOARD:
Inter Milan have come to the decision of dispensing with the services of German defender Jerome Boateng. This follows serious police charges made against the player, in which he was later found guilty of.
We at Inter Milan have a zero tolerance towards crimes committed such as these and we will now be seeking compensation in the form of a auction list fee for the player.
To make absolutely clear the position of the club, the board of directors and the manager... Jerome Boateng will never play for Inter Milan again.
THE MANAGER:
First of all, yes. Boateng played our triple-header today at full-back. He played well under the circumstances and we got the results we were looking for.
However, this occurred because i had agreed with the board not to shake up the squad late last night, even though the news of the guilty verdict had been coming through to us. The progress of Inter Milan in that moment was more important to me than the disruption of our teams' focus. If any fans feel disappointed with my decision, then I apologise unreservedly.
Now, with that being said... I will explain briefly the conversation that was had with Boateng from my side of things. When the charges first came to light, i sat down with Jerome and asked him if the charges were true and if this was going to cause the club an issue. He said NO. He said that the charges were false and that he was 100% INNOCENT.
As we came to find out... He was lying to me and lying to Inter Milan. I had clearly warned him that any guilty verdict would result in his contract being torn up immediately. I will not stand for the kind of things he is guilty of doing in his personal life. It disgusts me.
So here we are... Jerome Boateng sits on the auction list with no reserve. For the record, i will not hold it against any other manager who bids for his services as a football player. I would only hope that those who sign him understand the problems he has and the issue that will bring to their club.
I echo the statement of the board of directors here at Inter Milan when i say, Jerome Boateng will never don the Blue and Black of Inter Milan ever again. He has let everyone down and i will not have that at this club.
