Fresh on the back of a strong showing in the Super Cup, Wolves manager Craig Rathey has turned his attention to the league opener, vs Aston Villa.
"We rotated a few players for the Super Cup, in order to give some much needed rest for the start of the season. It was a strong performance but that's on the back of our minds now, we must focus on the upcoming match against Aston Villa - who will be strong opponents" Rathey said.
Rathey aim's to lead his side to a top four finish this season, cemementing themselves as a strong side in the top flight.
"We've seen what can happen, the league is tough. We were in the top 3 for the majority of last season, then eventually finished 3rd. Everton, a decent outfit ended up getting relegated to the 2nd tier - that could be Wolves next season." Rathey admitted to the gathering press.
Rathey is believed to have secured the signing of a top-class midfielder for the league opener, but refused to be drawn into discussing it in too much detail of yet.
"It's true we're on the verge of completing a signing target for an initial loan period, due to the good relationships between the clubs. The player in question will be a difference to our midfield, and will start this Friday."
