Hopefully Deci doesn't mind me putting this here - I thought it was pretty relevant. An email exchange between the two of us on putting some life back into the transfer market...

The problem for a new manager in game 75 is lack of cash and lack of any clubs selling. i know it's abit of a radical idea but i'd scrap the whole Feeder side thing and keep it to reserves and youth sides. feeder teams promote big teams and the teams with money to horde the good players who they realistically never need to sell. some teams have around 50 players between there main side and feeder side.
My idea would be that if a player of a 82ov isnt playing or in reserves he will get unhappier quicker and actually request a move on the accounts report page (would this be possible ?) or perhaps set a limit of only 2 + 83 ov's are allowed at a feeder side, it would certainly increase transfers and cash sales which are few and far between in g75.
Being paid for a loan is a great idea many a time i've loaned a player out for 8 weeks just for the manager not to play them or quit.

I tend to start new game 75 managers off with a fair bit of cash - £25 - £40m - but on the other points I'd probably agree. Some managers actually have over 100 players in their squads and have feeders as well. Obviously lots of those are players rated 78 or below that they think will be hot prospects, but the problem with decent players not getting a game is pretty clear. Having players actually ask for a transfer and then losing morale if they aren't sold. I think the reserve teams need to be improved a bit and will look at that next month probably...

good stuff i had a think, perhaps set a Wage Cap to stop managers hording all these players especially the managers who bid for out of contract players at £200,000 k a week, aminimum minute rule also could work, where Ov determines how many games a player must play a season otherwise they go on the out of contract list and you recieve a third of there value for them leaving e.g
80ov 1000 mins
81ov 1200 mins
820v 1400 mins and so forth.
it would stimulate what i must say is a dead transfer market particularly in game 75 but i imagine the problems the same everywhere and bring value back to having cash deals

Certainly... the challenge has always been how do you encourage managers to sell for cash rather than always insisting on swaps. When cash deals take place, there is a good active transfer market. As the noticeboards took off it all changed, there is now a fear that if you sell a player you won't be able to get another one. The economics of the game are supposed to be that one team cannot afford to keep so many players and as a result I've never thought a wage cap was necessary - wages of the highly rated players are such that even with Champions League income teams shouldn't be able to afford them and should be making a loss and therefore should have to sell off players for cash. For some reason, partly I think lower numbers of managers in the game, this doesn't seem to happen anymore.
