Long term Newcastle United target Julio Baptista has finally joined the geordie club for a fee of around fourteen million pounds.
The Brazilian forward has joined from second placed Seria A side Santos, but he isnt the only player moving between the two clubs this week. Young Japanese international attacker Takayuki Morimoto and Ghana midfield general Stephen Appiah are joining the side pushing for league glory in europe for 2 million and 7 million pounds respectevly.
.
When interviewed by Nufc.com, Luke Deveney told them of his feelings towards this weeks transfers.
' Im of course very happy happy with the acquisition of Julio from Santos, and id like to take the time to thank Steven Cox for letting this deal go ahead. Of course we have had to make sacrifices to bring the lad in, but i think the deal is very benificial for this club. Ive let Taka' and Stephen join Mr Cox at Santos, and id like to thank them two for their performances for the club. Takayuki is a fantastic prospect and did well for us at centre forward, and as for Appiah, he is a top notch competitor who im sure, along with Taka', will be a cracking success at Santos and i wish them the best of luck.'
The Newcastle club are also bringing in Italian full back Allesio Tacchnardi this week for around three million pounds, with Irish defender Stephen Carr moving the other way to Stamford Bridge for five million pounds.
