i know i was one of the managers who wanted all managers to retain the team they were allocated in the draft, but i think this is a special situation, so i hope you don't all start throwing pots and kettles at me... ;D
dom howlett was allocated manchester united in the lottery the other night, and almost immediately was concerned that he wouldn't be able to give the team the time and effort he felt they deserved and required to make the most of the opportunity, especially as the league is a memorial to Ross, and united were Ross's team.
following an awful super cup round of games, dom again expressed his concerns to me, claiming he didn't want to be at all disrespectful to the league, the team, or Ross's memory, and asked me to swap marseilles with him. i suggested he keep them and not make a knee jerk reaction, but he said it wasn't, and that he really wanted me to take them.
knowing that i am a United fan, and that i chatted often with Ross on the boards, and that Ross once offered me his g8 United side when he was about to quit them, dom felt i would be able and willing to give them the time and efforts he felt they deserved.
i immediately emailed Neil for his thoughts, and he said he didn't mind, but suggested maybe dom swap with the west ham manager as the irons are dom's team in real life, so i put this idea to dom but he said he already has wham in g5 and didn't want another.
so you know - i would keep united intact for at least the first season, and wouldn't expect to make any sweeping changes at any point. i have a history of quirky necom attributes, so fielding an all-n-only United side would be nothing new to me (i actually did this for a while at both Juve & Derby in g5), and i feel it could be a fitting testament to the much-missed Ross.
however, i don't want to irritate anyone in the game, and don't want there to be any odd tension because of this.
so, the question is - do you think it is all right for me to take over at United and for dom to take over at marseilles?
