I’m struggling to understand why common sense isn’t used when voting for player ratings and people are hiding behind
”Criteria is full international for top nation” etc etc
”He’s only young hasn’t got enough caps/played enough games yet”
I’ve been guilty of it myself, I’m sure, to some degree anyway.
Can we not say there’s exceptions to the rule?
For instance, in some national teams where you’ve got Harry Kane or Messi in your position, you’re screwed, you’re not gonna get a look in
Players like James McAtee and Cole Palmer are SO bloody good it’s untrue, especially the latter, but we’re I to poll either they’d probably be voted 79 and 80 respectively when they deserve to be higher considering how skilful and talented they are
With a midfield of Rice, Bellingham and Foden it would be impossible for Harvey Elliott to get a high rating but he deserves 81, the kid hits 100 matches for Liverpool in the Premier League tonight, that’s flipping insane!
Martinelli has Vinicius Jr in his position for Brazil, he’s not AS good as Vini Jr but he deserves to be higher than he is right now on the DB for sure, Joao Pedro has gone from Watford to Brighton and made Evan Ferguson a distant memory with his scintillating form, but he probably wouldn’t get rated or voted more than 80 when he should probabaly be an 81 minimum. And talking of Evan Ferguson, regular for a Ireland and mooted for moves to Utd and other clubs for £90mil plus how does he not deserve a rating of 80ov? But I think they’re all rated 78/79
Kobbie Mainoo is playing better than bloody Casemiro and Eriksen but they’re both rated so much higher than him!
The Arsenal back 4 are as good as City and Liverpools yet are rated so low! Saliba should be 82 minimum - Gabriel, White and Zinchenko all 81 minimum if not 82 for Gabriel - but people argue Ben White and Gabriel and Saliba aren’t regular internationals, Ben White is overlooked for Harry flipping Maguire by a clueless Southgate, Gabriel had Marquinhos and Thiago Silva ahead of him at Brazil, Saliba had Varane (before he retired) and others like Upamecano, Hernandez and Kounde ahead of him, surely now he should be 82/83 rated
Same for Konate I guess, he’s immense! Should be database 82 no?
Players like Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins and Dominic Solanke should all be thought about with their success in the Premier League as the main measure of talent and reasoning for rating, not bloody international caps!
What your views, fellow managers?
