Hey,
Here are just a couple of ideas that I have had about the game. I’m not all too sure whether they have been implemented already or not or whether they are on other threads already, but here goes;
1 - INJURIES – At the end of each season (Week 22) any players that still have injuries should be renewed to full fitness for Week 0, when the Super Cup is played. The reason is that during the summer holidays, about 10 weeks, the player would still receiving treatment, etc. hence getting better all the time. That would mean you wouldn’t have to wait again for the length of his injury to get him back to the team.
2 - APPEARANCES, ETC. – Shouldn’t the squad sheet have a separate or combined column with appearances, goals, etc. to include Super Cup, FA Cup, etc. This would show exactly how many games, goals, performances that each player has played.
3 - NEW PLAYERS – Any new players that burst on to the football scene should be placed on another list on the auction list, so long as he is not with a team already. It could work like this; say any player that comes into focus in the Premiership or wherever could be placed on this list, for say half his value. Then the managers could bid for him, just like the auction list. This would ensure that present players would be kept in the game. Also, it would make sure that not one single team could hoard all the new talent by just searching for them all and then taking them into their team, building up a young squad of all the best players.
4 - HISTORY – Maybe on one of the sheets (maybe the one with the finances) there could be a history of your tenure in the club. This could include things like most consecutive wins & losses, biggest victories, worst defeats, most ever appearances and goals, trophies, medals and final appearances, etc. This section would show your success as a manager, aiming to tell you what championships and medals you have won. This information would be a great gauge to measure against other managers.
5 - FINANCES – Maybe there could be more involvement in the financial side of the club. For instance, you could dictate how much season tickets, match tickets, etc. should be sold for. This way you can gauge you support while also making sure that you can gain enough of an input into your balance to support extra spending. Also this could be taken further, in the case of shirt sales, merchandise, club shop entrance, etc.
Further influence in the financial side of your club would provide more respect and a feeling of more involvement in your club, of sorts, and if only one thing, stop people chopping and changing sides every few turns. This is really the one thing that is killing the game.
6 - PLAYER ENTICEMENTS – Maybe at the start of each season you can put certain enticements into place at the club for the forthcoming season. For example you could put a financial figure on success for each of the competitions you are entered into. For instance you could promise £10,000 to each player of your squad for winning the FA Cup, likewise for the League Cup. You could put priority on specific competitions depending on their importance to the club; like making winning the Super Cup your top preference, and placing an enticement of £25,000 a man on this.
Enticements could also be given to each single player. Every time your chosen forward scores a goal he receives £5,000. Likewise your goalkeeper gets £6,5000 every time he keeps a clean sheet. This action could also be priority orientated. In so far as you would give your first team regular players more enticements than you would to fringe or youth players. The idea would be that players on more fruitful enticements would perform better to obtain the financial rewards. Thus, forwards aiming to score more goals and your defence trying to keep more clean sheets.
7 - PLAYER CONTRACTS – When a player signs a contract with you club a couple of separate issues could be ironed out too, as in real life. As above, financial performance incentives could be put forward. Maybe performace related bonuses could be included as well as sell on clauses or the like. I’m not too sure about this section but surely more could be done than just agreement between the two managers.
8 - MEDAL AWARDS – As in the Premiership and other leagues each player in the club squad has to obtain a certain percentage of games to qualify for a winners medal. This is usually thirty per cent, meaning Premiership players have to play a minimum of 12 games in the league season to qualify for a winners medal. This should translate to League Soccer as well. When you do a search on a player this information could be included, saying that he won Serie A with Juventus and the English FA Cup with Man. Utd., etc.
With regards the cup competitions there are usually 21 medals given out, excluding backroom staff, to include playing staff exclusively. Each of the first eleven and the five substitutes receive a medal. The additional five are allotted by the manager, to players deemed worthy for previous performace. In 1999 Roy Keane and Paul Scholes received European Cup medals though both missed the Final. Carlo Cudicini received a League Cup Winners medal this term for his performance in every game up to the final, which he missed due to suspension.
I think that each winning manager should be able to disperse medals to his squad, who he deems rewarding, and then this information could be put down in record on the player’s bio, for future searches to show.
9 – SEASON LONG LOANS – Maybe the chance of sending a player out on a season long loan should be put into the game. True, at present you can send a player out to your feeder team but how much better are they going to get playing in the lower divisions. If a player could spend a season playing for a team just as good as you surely that would benefit them more in the long term. Specific points would have to be agreed, such as your player not being able to play against you and also the fact that the other club agree to pay the players wages.
These are only a few ideas that I have.
If people are in favour of an idea I don’t think that there would be too much trouble in placing these into the system and program (I can hear Neil screaming). If it could be to the benefit of the game surely some new things deserve a chance.
I’m not too sure whether or not they could be implemented into the program but I guess that’s what this thread is all about.
Please feel free to give your opinion on them,
Gerard.
